On Sunday September 14, 2008 The reminisce of hurricane Ike
struck London, Ohio. Here in the city we had sustained winds
well over 65 mph for 6 hours. London Fire Department along
with the other Fire Departments in the county went on full alert.
London Fire Department responded on 42 calls between the
hours of 1430 and 0700. The department responded on lines
down, trees into homes, trees on top of cars, several
unoccupied structure in danger of collapse, a possible structure
fire, and went mutual aid on a working standing cornfield fire.
During the course of the day all 4 pieces of equipment along
with the chief's car were out serving the community.
This unoccupied 2 story 3 unit structure was moved off its
foundation (and leading towards the road) by the winds. It was
decided by the Fire Chief and the owner, that the structure should
 be razed.
